A Little Somerset Haven!

Recently renovated with love, this 17th Century house has modern features in a traditional build. With gorgeous walls made of stone, the attention to detail creates a wonderful environment, whether it be cosiness or relaxation you wish for,  or even a little dinner party!

Lower Godney is a charming community in the Somerset levels. Fields and farm animals a plenty, we are also lucky enough to be surrounded by nature & bird reserves. It goes without saying the walking and biking is heavenly!

Ground Floor: Consists of a spacious open plan kitchen and living area with a fantastic open fire place.

The bedroom consists of a Super King Bed/Twin Beds, whichever you would rather. It has an en suite bathroom.

Second Floor/Mezzanine: This floor consists of a very comfortable Vispring king sized bed with a cute en suite shower room.

Set at the end of the village, you can expect a quiet stay. Apart from the dawn chorus by all the garden birds and the farmer occasionally passing by - sometimes with a herd of strolling cows! - it is a little slice of peacefulness (The farmer closes our gate so we are safe from any particularly nosy cows)

Although we do not supply breakfast as such, we do provide a complimentary hamper with teas and coffee, milk and a small selection of treats. After all, we want to provide the best stay possible for you.

Lower Godney Little House is a 17th Century cottage on the grounds of Lower Godney House (where we live). It was built around fifty years before our house, which is situated across the drive way, and centuries ago it housed the local cobblers serving the surrounding villages. Time, love and care was taken to renovate it into a comfortable living space, however there are still the beautiful characteristics and flaws of an old building - the odd spider or occasional chirping of the sparrows nesting around the roof.

You can find us on social media under the name Lower Godney.

The guests have the whole of Lower Godney Little House to themselves. You share your parking with us in Lower Godney House, a stones throw away should you have any questions or requests. We will generally be around. You can knock on the door or call at any time.

With Glastonbury and Wells on our doorstep (10 and 15 minutes drive respectively), there is never a dull moment or a lack of activities. Our local pub, The Sheppey, is just down the road and is a hub of interesting memorabilia and quirky decor. It has a fantastic sun terrace along the River Sheppey and serves delicious pub grub and local ciders. There’s usually a buzzy atmosphere so we recommend booking.

Please note that there are not any shops within walking distance. There are markets and supermarkets galore, but these will need driving to (15 mins max) We have a local tea room, also backing onto the river, and a wonderful bakery, open only on Saturday mornings (you can pre-order bread if needed). Local eggs and salad greens from the village can be pre-ordered as well.

Opposite Lower Godney Little House is a large playing field with swings which can entertain children for hours!

There are plenty of walking and cycling routes. We suggest having your own vehicle as there isn't much in the way of public transport, although there is a local bus to Glastonbury and one to Wells which run once or twice daily. There are taxi firms local to Glastonbury and Wells, all of which are mentioned in the welcome pack.

We have a rather energetic and friendly dog, Olive, who will want to be friends with you! She isn't really supposed to be in the Little House but if you don't mind her being there then we don't either.

We are also happy for you to bring your friendly pooch free of charge by prior arrangement.  We also have free roaming chickens, who will happily be kept in their coop if you feel they may be at danger from your dog.

Also we have two exterior security cameras that cover our shared parking and driveway. Neither of these show inside the Airbnb. They are only in place for our security. If you have any concerns regarding your privacy please drop us a message. We are obviously happy to share with you the coverage of these cameras.

We regret, due to the interiors of the property, we no longer allow children under the age of 12.
